30th April 2026

BACK TO MAIN INDEX

  • Facilitator: Dylan Renyolds
  • Note Taker: Kirsty Britten
  • Attendees: Dr Emma West, Tim, Victoria, Sarbjit

Updates From Previous Meeting

  • Weekend Answer Machine Message - The weekend answer machine message has been reviewed. It confirms that callers are directed to NHS 111, and Homerton have a weekend GP service.
  • Jess’s Rule – Further Clarification - Additional information was provided regarding Jess’s Rule. A poster is displayed in Reception. It was explained that if a patient presents three times with the same symptoms, the case should be reviewed. GP teams already carry out peer-review discussions and review cases during weekly SWAT meetings.
  • Reception Posters and TV Screen - Where possible, posters in Reception will be reduced in size and transferred to the TV screen. Some posters will remain in place, as not all information can be displayed digitally.
  • Garden Area – Waste Bags and Volunteers - Waste bags will be arranged. Victoria and Sarbjit have offered to begin clearing the garden area and agreed that an 8am start works well for them. They will confirm suitable dates. Victoria also volunteered to bring her garden waste bin and remove some of the rubbish.

Patient Survey Ideas

Victoria will look for a previous survey she created. It was suggested that we include a question such as “What do you love about Statham Grove Surgery?” as part of the new survey. The group also discussed using an A1 programme to collate and present the responses.

Staff Updates

Dylan provided an overview of the staffing structure, outlining the roles of Partners, Salaried GPs, and Registrars. The practice currently has four Partners, and Dr Sayers’ partnership position will not be replaced. Moving forward, Salaried GPs will cover Dr Sayers’ sessions.

Contracts Update

Emma provided an update on the government’s Advice and Guidance scheme, which requires GPs to seek specialist input before making a referral. She expressed concerns that this may significantly increase workload and raised clinical considerations around the process. Discussions are ongoing regarding the proposal for uncapped daily online consultations.

Memorial Ideas

The group discussed potential memorial ideas for Mel. As the waiting list for an allotment is several years long, alternative options were suggested, including using a community garden space such as the garden classroom, or installing a bench with a plaque in a local park. Dylan noted that Mel’s family would need to be consulted before any plans are taken forward.
