Updates From Last Introductory Meeting
On Thursday 27th January 2022, the surgery held it’s first PPG meeting of the year, which saw over 20 patients show interest. The PPG was introduced and a number of topics were discussed, among which were patient access to usual GPs. No formal meeting minutes have been taken for this meeting as Gulê was assisting with technical support for patients who joined in person and sat in waiting room, and no secretary was appointed.
Points for Discussion
In today’s meeting Dylan introduced and clarified what the PPG is and the aims of the group and why it has been set up. Jackie asked about where the meeting information goes to Dylan explained that it is just a contractual element of City & Hackney Confederation to take minutes and patient contact details, and is not looked into by anyone in particular, but that surgeries are left to ensure that these meetings are held. Contact details are mainly for the surgery PPG team in order to be able to keep in touch re PPG related matters. As there was a high number of feedback re zoom connection, Dylan updated members today that Zoom Pro was up and running so we are not cut off in future. The PPG budget has been used to buy the Pro package, and can be renewed or cancelled depending on demand.
Everyone present has agreed that the topic of the next meeting should be about Patient access and post-pandemic life- what type of GP service/contact patients would like to adopt, what features of the current system are working and what features not working for people.
As a chair and secretary had not been selected in the previous meeting, this was discussed today and Jackie has come forward and offered to be chair and act as moderator in future meetings. All present have welcomed this nomination. Secretary yet to be nominated. Gulê will take minutes in the meanwhile.
Dylan has informed members that the Confed allocate a budget for PPG groups to utilise in improving aspects of patient care in the surgery, and it was suggested that we can use some of the fund to drive for more member recruitment and bring people together and hire our local Community centre by St Mary’s Church on Stoke Newington Church Street.
Next meeting
Planning to hire St Mary's Community Centre 27th or 28th April, at 13:00 - email to all PPG members to follow
